How many butts will Jeff Ewasko have to put on the ice before he gets a little respect. Friday night against Corpus, Blair Stayzer stepped up to the plate and Ewasko took care of him handily. I don't think he got a hit in. Saturday night was more of the same, actually uglier. Amarillo gave truth to thier name, it was gorillas on ice. David Silverstone was feeling lucky but Jeff erased that feeling when he cleaned his clock.
I don't go to Hockey games to see a fight. I want to see end to end transitions and cross ice passes, creating odd man rushes just to see the goalie lay out and stop the puck. Even low scoring games aren't always that bad. But...It seems, Jeff takes a lot of crap. And more so this year than last, it looks like he's tired of taking it, and I don't blame him.
It was funny as Brent Hughes went to the penalty box he did an impression of Jeff skating. Looked like a 5 yr olds first time on ice. Yes it was funny. It was also funny knowing Jeff could use him for toilet paper. Jeff may not be the best skater, but he is an impact player. When opponents have the puck, they want to know where he's at. And he proved last year he could score. And at 6'7", he skates pretty well.
Saturday's meeting against Amarillo was just the 2nd battle of this war, and with Cressman getting taken out, I can't imagine what the next game will be like but you can bet I won't miss it for anything.
